POSITION: Cog Railway Sales Manager

Pay Range: $50-$60,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY: Research, prospect, develop and contract groups of 25+ people for the The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway and The Broadmoor Seven Falls. Responsibilities will include making sales calls, qualifying leads, developing proposals, site inspections, contracting and definite booking turnover to the reservations managers. This position will work with existing accounts to maintain good relationships, develop referrals and will prospect to generate new leads and business.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have at least two years of sales experience preferably in the tourism/hospitality and attractions industry. Experience in the tourist railway industry preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Research, prospect and develop leads regarding group reservations and logistical requirements of the group and issue a proposal within 24 hours of developing a viable lead;
  • Sell trains seats and park admission at preferred group rates;
  • Utilize Sales Force to track all business leads;
  • Coordinate site visits of other local attractions, such as Seven Falls, and experiences that Cog visitors may be interested in booking in addition to the Cog;
  • Understand Cog Railway operations (parking, retail, trains operations) and Seven Falls park operations (parking, retail, food and beverage and park operations) to provide groups clarity on how to maximize their experiences;
  • Become familiar with RocketRez ticketing and reservation system to understand availability for groups for both operations;
  • Have a working knowledge of available items to upsell to maximize Cog Railway and Seven Falls revenue, including retail, food and beverage and transportation options;
  • Work with Broadmoor sales team to develop relationships with resort groups and provide the Cog Railway and Seven Falls as recreational options to the group while on site;
  • Solicit other hotel and resorts in the area to offer the Cog Railway and Seven Falls group options to their group guests;
  • Attend local events and tradeshows as assigned to develop new business opportunities;
  • Attend all departmental meetings and activities, including Broadmoor sales teams meetings.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Database software (Delphi.)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to travel to 14,115 feet above sea level. Employee may be required to work in train maintenance shop areas where eye and/or hearing protection may be required. Employee may work in close proximity to diesel engines and train horns.
